Gaia Enterprises, Inc. got its start as a manufacturer of specialty chemicals (solvents, degreasers, and corrosion inhibitors) sold to power generation companies, construction firms, railroads, and municipal governments. Our products helped these entities comply with strict environmental regulations and equipment manufacturers’ specifications, where failure to comply led to fines from the EPA and the voiding of manufacturers' warranties.

The name Gaia (pronounced GUY - YA) comes from the gnostic term for Mother Earth, symbolic of our unyielding approach to developing safe and effective products for people, pets, and property. We are the proud innovator, patent holder, and manufacturer of the revolutionary ice melter Safe Paw^®, the first ice melter that was environmentally safe and was guaranteed safe to be used around people, children and pets while not damaging property. Prior to the introduction of SafePaw in 1987, all ice melters were salt-based, and thus toxic to people and pets, extremely harmful to the environment, and corrosive to property including concrete and steel. Today Safe Paw^® is used by home owners, businesses, governments, airports and construction sites, and we continue to develop safe alternatives for these markets.
